Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 18, 2026

Be Sanctified (“we,” “us”) is a personal ministry website operated by Danny Cometto. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit or create an account, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We try to collect as little as possible, and we do not sell your information to anyone.

What we collect

  • Account details. When you register, we store your email address and your name. Your password is stored only as a secure one-way hash — we never see or keep your actual password.
  • Your journal. Journal entries are encrypted on your device before they ever reach us. We store only the encrypted text and cannot read it (see the call-out below).
  • Groups and discussions. If you join a Bible-study group, the messages and notes you post are stored so the group can read them.
  • Usage analytics. We use our own self-hosted, privacy-respecting analytics — not Google or any advertising network. It records things like which pages were visited, the referring link, and general device/browser type. When you are signed in, this activity is associated with your account through an internal account identifier (never your email) so we can understand how members use the site and improve it.
  • Cookies. A sign-in cookie keeps you logged in, a small analytics cookie helps count visits, and a preference cookie remembers your light/dark theme. We do not use advertising cookies.

About your journal: it is end-to-end encrypted with a key only you hold. We genuinely cannot read your entries — not for support, not for analytics, not for anything. The trade-off is that if you lose both your password and your recovery code, the journal cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. That is the cost of real privacy, and we think it is worth it.

How we use information

  • To provide the site — your account, journal, groups, and studies.
  • To keep accounts secure (for example, locking after repeated failed sign-ins).
  • To understand how the site is used so we can make it better.
  • To communicate with you about your account and, only if you opt in, occasional updates.

How information is shared

We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only with the service providers that run the site on our behalf (such as our hosting and email providers), and only as needed to operate it. Content you post in a group is visible to the members of that group. We may disclose information if required by law.

Email

We send account-related emails (for example, invitations or notifications you have enabled). If we add occasional updates or a newsletter, those are optional and every message includes an unsubscribe link.

Your choices

  • Access and export. You can request a copy of your data.
  • Deletion. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data.
  • Analytics. We honor your browser's “Do Not Track” signal, and you can ask us to exclude your account from analytics.

Data retention & security

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, and remove it within a reasonable time after you delete your account. We protect data with hashed passwords, encrypted journals, transport encryption (HTTPS), and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we take care to safeguard what you trust us with.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. A separate teen-oriented experience is planned; when it launches it will carry privacy protections appropriate for younger users.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will give notice on the site.
